Big Oil Taxed to Pay for Solar

The House approved a bill to collect $18 billion over 10 years. The money would go to tax breaks for wind, solar and other alternative energy and for energy conservation.

The money would come from the oil companies. The largest companies would pay $1.8 billion per year each. Those companies earned $123 billion last year.

President Bush has said that he will veto the bill if it passes Congress.
