Eat for Life

What are the environmental costs of your eating habits?

I have heard it said that a vegetarian driving a Hummer is more eco-friendly than a meat-eating bicyclist.

This link claims that eating whale is better for the planet than livestock meat. Of course, it is obviously less beneficial to the whale species.

For the fruits and vegetables that you do eat, is it better to buy local or organic? There are benefits to both. If you can find a local organic farm, Hooray! However, many small local farms use organic practices even if they are not certified organic. Luckily our neighborhood has a great Farmers' Market.

Below is a video by the Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom (VSUK) narrated by Paul McCartney that discusses the devastation that meat eating causes.
