It is interesting to see the various reasons that people have for installing solar on their homes. In the first case study for example, the couple is approaching retirement; by installing solar their budget is more predictable. If you plan to live off a nest-egg for 15+ years, how can you predict how much you will be spending on electricity? If you are buying only a small portion from the grid, the utilities price fluctuations are less important.
